Licence agreement
Last updated: 20 October 2026
This agreement is between you and Adam Jaro, trading as soundlikejaro ("we", "us"), the maker of Clam Sync. It covers the Clam Sync app, its updates and its documentation (together, "the software"). By installing or using the software you agree to it. If you don't agree, don't install or use it.
If you're a consumer, you also have rights under consumer law that this agreement can't take away. Nothing here limits them.
1. Licence, not sale
The software is licensed to you, not sold. We (and our licensors) keep ownership of it. You get the rights set out below, and nothing more.
2. The free version
You may download and use the free version on any number of computers, for personal or commercial work. It does everything except that exports are limited to 20 clips on 2 tracks. It's there so you can check Clam Sync works with your footage and editor before buying.
3. Paid licences
There are two kinds: Solo, which you keep, and the Project Pass, which lasts a set time. Both remove the free version's limits.
- Computers: a Solo licence or a Project Pass lets you activate the software on up to two computers that you use, Mac or Windows in any mix. You may move it to a new computer by deactivating it on an old one.
- Who may use it: a licence is for one person. A company may buy licences for its staff, one per person who uses the software.
- Work: you may use it for any work, personal or commercial. What you make with it is yours.
- Solo updates: Solo includes a year of updates from the day you buy it. You may renew for another year of updates at the price shown on our website at the time. If you don't, the software keeps working: you may keep using every version released while you were covered, for as long as your computer can run it. Newer versions ask you to renew.
- Project Pass: a pass lasts 90 days from purchase, and then the software goes back to the free version. Timelines you exported keep working. A pass doesn't renew by itself. If you buy Solo during the pass or within 14 days after it ends, the price of the pass is taken off.
- Transfers: you may give a Solo licence to someone else once, if you stop using it yourself. Email us so we can move it. A Project Pass can't be transferred.
- Payment: licences are sold by our reseller, Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. Their terms of sale apply to the purchase itself. If a purchase is refunded or charged back, its licence is cancelled.
4. What you may not do
- Share, publish or sell licence keys, or use one licence beyond the limits above.
- Remove, disable or get around licence checks or free-version limits.
- Copy, resell, rent or redistribute the software, or offer it as a service to others.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the software, except where the law or section 5 allows it.
5. Open-source parts
The software includes components made by others under their own licences, including FFmpeg and Qt, which are licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). The full list and licence texts are on the third-party licences page and inside the app.
Nothing in this agreement limits your rights under those licences. In particular, you may replace the LGPL-licensed FFmpeg and Qt libraries inside the app with your own versions, and reverse-engineer the app as far as needed to debug such a replacement. Licence checks still apply to the rest of the software.
6. Your media
The software only reads your footage and audio; it never changes, moves or renames them. It writes timelines, reports and an audio cache to places you choose or to your computer's usual cache folder. Your media and everything you make from it stay yours. See our privacy policy for what the software sends over the internet.
7. Warranty
We work hard to make Clam Sync accurate, but syncing by sound depends on the recordings, and no tool gets every clip right. Always check a synced timeline before relying on it. The software shows clips it isn't sure of; check those by eye.
Apart from the rights you have under consumer law (for example, that the software is as described and of satisfactory quality), the software is provided "as is", without other warranties of any kind.
8. Liability
Nothing in this agreement limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.
Otherwise, we aren't liable for loss of profits, business, revenue, data or goodwill, or for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you under this agreement is limited to the amount you paid for your licence (or £50 if you use the free version).
If you're a consumer, we're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this agreement or failing to use reasonable care. If the software damages a device or other digital content of yours because we didn't use reasonable care and skill, we'll either repair the damage or pay you compensation.
9. Ending the agreement
You may end this agreement at any time by uninstalling the software. We may end it if you seriously break it (for example by sharing licence keys) and don't fix that within 14 days of us telling you. When it ends you must stop using the software. Sections 5, 6, 8 and 10 continue after it ends.
10. General
- We may update this agreement for later versions. The version that came with the software you're using applies to it.
- If part of this agreement can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- This agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts can settle any dispute. If you're a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you may also bring a claim in your local courts and keep the protection of your local law.
